Richie Woolley, Some Recherche Bay archaeology and its context

Published: Tuesday, 11 February 2025

Not content with trawling through archival records, Richie Woolley has also spent many hours wandering through the bush in the Recherche Bay area.  Over the course of more than a decade, he has located a number of previously unrecorded relics and ruins, and has also developed some new interpretations of known archaeological features. He will speak about his discoveries in this talk.

Richie grew up at Judbury in the Huon Valley.  A keen family and local historian, he was the co-author of "A History of the Huon and Far South", published in 2004.  His has also written "Above the Falls: the People and the History of the Upper Huon" and, more recently, "Amy Sherwin: the Tasmanian Nightingale", a short biography of the famous singer who, like Richie, spent her formative years at Judbury.
