Leonie Mickleborough is a fifth-generation Tasmanian descended from both convicts and free settlers mainly from the United Kingdom. She has had a long-lasting interest in her own family history as well as the colony’s history and the early settlers, the study of which, led to a PhD from the University of Tasmania in 2011. A foundation member of the Tasmanian Family History Society Inc. where she co-ordinates a family history award and is a library volunteer, Leonie is also a committee member of Convict Women’s Press Inc., and has been a member of THRA since 1984, and a committee member since 2015.
